Message-ID: <530004@hpcea.CE.HP.COM> Date: Wed, 26-Aug-87 18:40:39 EDT Article-I.D.: hpcea.530004 Posted: Wed Aug 26 18:40:39 1987 Date-Received: Sat, 29-Aug-87 08:24:38 EDT Organization: HP Corporate Engineering - Palo Alto, CA Lines: 13 Has anybody ever seen an X implementation of grayscale font display? I know the X font structure only supports 1-bit fonts, but there's got to be SOMEONE out there who has seen the wave of the future, and hacked X to use 8-bit or variable depth fonts. If nobody's done it, is there any reason to think it couldn't be done? If I can't find an existing implementation, I'm going to give it a try myself. Andrew Fitzhugh HP Human Factors Engineering
