I know that the early fifties Gerry Mulligan, Shorty Rogers, Dave Bruebeck, Chet Baker approach to jazz is not highly thought of in many quarters, but it's one of my favorites. Hey, didn't Miles start the cool school ("Birth of the Cool", Capitol Jazz Classics, recorded 1949-50)? I still stand by my statement on Tabackin. He is surely the best on either instrument I have ever heard in person. Of course, this is largely a matter of taste. ========================================================================= I speak for myself, and not on behalf of any other person or organization .........................How's that, Gary? =========================================================================
