Well, maybe not the best, but pretty good. One slight correction. Bird came to California for the first time, I think, in 1945. It was at Billy Berg's that Diz and Bird got a cold reception. Anyway, Bird's sojourn at the Camarillo mental institution was in 1946 following a troubled recording session in L.A. Anyway, that's the way I read it. Being just 4 years old at the time, I was doing very little be-bopping, even though I lived in the area.
