(Actually, a small list of questions). I hope this is the appropriate group to air it. If not, please forgive my ignorance. Periodically I get a control message that tells me all of my invalid groups (the infamous "Problems with your active file..."). It then gives me a whole list of newsgroups that it thinks are not valid. Some of them are not. The "mod" groups, for example, are being or have been phased out (is this a correct statement?). However, there are lots of others that I KNOW are valid. Ones like comp.databases and comp.bugs.*. In fact, it looks like it is invalidating ALL of the comp.* newsgroups. My question, long winded as it is, is where does this message come from, should I worry about it, and what do I need to do so that it "likes" my active file?? I hesitate to follow the instructions in it since I've just recently gotten news up and running again after having been off the net for a while. I realize I'm a little behind the times in the scheme of things and am playing catchup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -- Dave Abbajay Senior Technical Staff ORACLE Corporation (415)598-8000 hplabs!oracle!abbajay
