Lines: 16 Keywords: opening message alt.cyberpunk : The term cyberpunk in 1987 generally denoted an futuristic approach to the interaction between people and computers that has motivated novels such as William Gibson's ``Neuromancer'' and Vernor Vinge's ``Peace War'' as well as movies such as ``BladeRunner'' and ``TRON.'' As the present rushes into the future, this vision has also found expression in works of nonfiction such as Steward Brand's ``The Media Lab.'' This newsgroup was formed formed as a meeting grounds for people who are interested in this vision, regardless of the media in which it is expressed or whether the expression is fictional or nonfictional.
