I suspect that you had a few words with Mr. Wiener in which he agreed
not to insult me any longer by name.  The daily insulting messages from
him on Friday and Saturday have instead used obvious references to me
based on his language in previous messages which did name me (e.g.,
"Captain Carnage", "Ayuck ayuck yuck").  I have forwarded these messages
to you.  I do not consider this sufficient.  You cannot trust Mr. Wiener
to abide by the spirit of any agreement he makes with you, and therefore
the only option is to remove his access to the network.  If this
harrassment is permitted to continue from your machine, I wil have no
option but to first speak with the math dept. chair, and failing that
to pursue the possibility of prosecution on charges of harassment and
slander.  Please reply to this message.

  At this point Matthew had heard nil from anyone in charge,
contrary to Tim's speculations. Tim is beginning to get annoyed
with our sysadmin--later, he complains about him to our
department chairman.  Probably this was part of the reason that
Tim was being taken a lot less seriously than he probably
imagined; if Matthew hadn't been hanging by a thread already,
nothing would have happened. Of course, this doesn't absolve Tim.
