Actually he says that Catholics shouldn't use Contraception.  And 
there are a lot of people who are against abortion for various
reasons.

Well, there are a lot of poor and homeless even in countries that
aren't Catholic.  Even the Catholic countries would probably have a
high birthrate anyway.
