Feel free. In fact, I have no objection to anyone making any letter from me public, whatever the subject. This is the first time Gene has ever taken standards of politeness into account, which should raise some suspicions. Rightly so: there are no fabrications in my messages, and it would hardly serve Gene's vendetta to make that known. He has attempted to discredit my true statement, that he and Wiener between them posted anti-Maroney messages with roughly daily frequency, by misconstruing it to say I claimed that Gene personally wrote daily messages. This is just one in a long sequence of self-serving untruths, of which the most extreme was claiming that my complaints were based on the epithet "Captain Carnage". I would like to particularly thank Rhonda Scribner, James Wilbur Lewis, Laura Creighton, and John Gilmore for countering Smith's falsehoods and distortions in pursuit of his vendetta. My greatest thanks, without denigrating anyone's contribution, go to Rhonda. -- Tim Maroney, {ihnp4,sun,well,ptsfa,lll-crg}!hoptoad!tim (uucp) hoptoad!tim@lll-crg (arpa)
