If you have seen junk like: --------------------------- + As of Wednesday, September the 23rd of 1987, Thomas Habernoll + has altered your distribution options for list INFO-M2 as +per the "SET INFO-M2 FULLHDR NOACK" command. --------------------------- on this Arpa/Bitnet mailing list / Usenet news group, don't worry. The connections between the Bitnet list server and the Arpa/Usenet redistribution/gateway were not set up properly. This caused mailings with short headers, which are ok for human readers but a no-no for redistribution systems, because the message-id field was missing. I assume this was the reason for some duplicates on comp.lang.modula2. It is assumed that we now live in a perfect world without any junk, noise, and duplicates on this list/group :-) Thomas P.S.: If you are running a local redistribution list or some kind of local bulletin board which is fed by either INFO-M2@UCF1VM or INFO-M2@DB0TUI11, you should be sure to set your list subscription to "full noack" as shown in the above quote (by means of a command sent to LISTSERV@node, NOT to INFO-M2).
