The (in)famous problems of ihnp4 being *the* way into most of AT&T and Bell Labs while they were hard to reach and were constantly dropping mail on the floor is a perfect example. Here's another one: Amdahl (we) took a power hit a couple of weeks ago (the city had to replace the massive junction box providing power to the building). Were I a user on a nearby machine, had I seen the posting from a neighboring site getting the word out, and had I mail that I wanted to get through *now*, I'd want to be able to hand-feed the path to route around the dead node. So, make it so that I can ignore paths almost all the time, but leave me recourse when *I* know more than pathalias does about what the condition of the net is. ...Kris -- Kristopher Stephens, | (408-746-6047) | {whatever}!amdahl!krs Amdahl Corporation | | -or- krs@amdahl.amdahl.com [The opinions expressed above are mine, solely, and do not ] [necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of Amdahl Corp. ]
