We regularly get processes dropping into a RWAST state, which is very nasty
because they have devices allocated, files locked (including VMSMAIL.DAT,
which makes it difficult to log in!), etc, and there is no way to get rid of
them except (a) reboot the system, or (b) wait for a very long time. Even the
nice black internals manual seems to be reticent about RWASTs (or am I reading
the wrong parts?).

It seems to happen mostly on RT (remote) terminals. Does anyone have any
cures/ideas/prayers that would be any help?
