When doing a BACKUP of an RA81 onto 6250 bpi tape on the VERIFY pass, I have got the following error message : %BACKUP-E-READERR, error reading MSB0:[]OC0987.; -BACKUP-E-SHORTBLOCK, save set block too short The manual says that BACKUP encountered a physical block SHORTER than the value recorded for the save set and that the data in the saveset is corrupted which all makes sense. However, I don't know WHY this problem is occurring and HOW to correct the problem. Other pertinent information : - am using straight $BACKUP and am copying about 80% of files on the RA81. ( not /IMAGE) - before we migrated from 11/780 with RM05s to our VAX 8250 with a RA81,RA60, the BACKUP on the same user data (same amount of data even though different disk) took 1.5 tapes. The same BACKUP now copying from the RA81 to tape takes 5 tapes and claims to be corrupted. - the tape system we have are two STC 1950 series drives (6250/1600 bpi) with an AVIV controller which is up to date and which AVIV claims to work on new BI-UNIBUS adapter (for an 8250) Any insight on this strange problem would greatly be appreciated. Please send any replies to me directly as I am not on the INFOVAX list at this time.
