Setting a volume to be startup on a server with only plaintext passwords under the AppleShare client version 1.0 seems to really confuse it. The AppleShare 1.1 client seems to handle it better. If you really need this facility, consider using the "lookaside" password file facility (as hokey as it is, it does work). This was one of the primary reasons it was added. Charlie C.
