Unfortunately, 'too far to the left' means anything except almost touching the right edge (Note where resetting to the defaults leaves the screen-dragger). When you took your disk with you, if it is a WB disk, it took it's settings, so you'd get the same problem. Move the centering gadget to the extreme right and try again. Commodore should note this in the manual, and warn people of the signs of having it too far left.
