Message-ID: <5212@bbn.COM> Date: Thu, 8-Oct-87 11:07:23 EDT Article-I.D.: bbn.5212 Posted: Thu Oct 8 11:07:23 1987 Date-Received: Sun, 11-Oct-87 02:14:54 EDT Sender: news@bbn.COM Reply-To: cosell@bbn.com (Bernie Cosell) Organization: BBN Laboratories Incorporated, Cambridge, MA Lines: 26 I just got an A2000 and I've been playing with it some and I noticed that when I clicked on the Trashcan the >empty trash< menu item didn't become enabled.... hmmm... so I decided to delete the stuff brute-force, and so I did shift-select on all of the stuff in the Trashcan (which was now visible since I had just opened it) and did the for-real "delete" menu item. You might have noticed the slight flaw in the above: in addition to the stuff IN the trashcan I had left the Trashcan, *itself*, selected. And, sure enough, the #@$%@# thing deleted the Trashcan! What's wrong? I don't think it is anything really dumb that I did, because I'm working straight off of the WB disk (actually, a copy of it, of course) that came with the 2000. (although I noticed that the Trashcan on my Extras disk had the same non-working property). Thanks /Bernie\ ps, I DID do a dumb thing, though, that I don't fully understand the ramifications of: by mistake (I was cleaning out icons I didn't want) I deleted the .info file for my WB disk. I didn't exactly know what to DO about that. How best to fix this little misstep? tnx /b\ Bernie Cosell Internet: cosell@bbn.com Bolt, Beranek & Newman, Inc USENET: bbn.com!cosell Cambridge, MA 02238 Telco: (617) 497-3503
