I agree, but the 1.3 release (Beta) is based on the V/AT version 2.3 kernel which fixes the 9600 baud serial port problem, the clock problem, and many others. Look for a "real" release in October. | If you need to run ethernet connections, Xenix supports Excelan packages | which allow telnet and ftp. NFS is not supported at this time, and there | are some problems with PC-NFS holding interrupts off for 2-3ms, causing | lost serial data, etc. The C compiler is not PCC, and the object format | is not COFF, but you can product DOS executables if you wish. Several things. The Exelan product is also avaliable from Microport for use with their 2.2 and 2.3 kernels. NFS is in the works (from Exelan). The C compiler from MicroSoft (Xenix) IS the MSC 4.0/5.0 compiler avaliable for MSDOS. It supports ANSI C, is fast, and it can cross compile to DOS. In fact, the "help" message produced with cc -help gives the SAME options as the DOS version, complete with '/'s instead of '-'s :-) The Xenix compiler blows the pants off the pcc from AT&T, I just wish it did COFF :-) -- John Plocher uwvax!geowhiz!uwspan!plocher plocher%uwspan.UUCP@uwvax.CS.WISC.EDUn
