I have an old mac(bought in 1984) that I had fixed up to 512. It is so old that I don't want to spend much money fixing it. I want to try fix it myself. Here's the problem: I had left the computer on for a day. There was a book sitting on top of it. When I returned to the room, hours later, there was a funny smell and a wirring(buzzing) noise. I looked at the screen and there was a bomb box. I turned the computer off and then on again and the beep sounded, disk drive ran and the finder booted up and everything seemed fine--except that the screen had shrunk sideways and there was a narrow strip down the middle that showed the desktop. I turned the computer off for a few hours, tried it again, but this time I got nothing but the wirring noise. No beep, no diskdrive noise. Any ideas? Thank you very much.
