While you now have a hard disk with a proper system and finder on it, your boot block 0 on the hard disk has been trashed. Ergo, the system does not recognize it at boot time, and your disk is not a start-up disk. Not to worry. Whenever a system is copied onto a disk THAT DOES NOT ALREADY HAVE A SYSTEM on it, it recreates the boot block. Simply remove the system and finder from that hard disk (saving it elsewhere if you wish). Reboot to be sure, but I'm not sure this matters. Then, copy the system back onto the hard disk, and make the finder the start-up application on that disk (also probably not necessary). Now, I'm not 100% certain of that sequence. The point is, the problem descrip- tion is accurate, and there exists a methodology short of reinitializing the entire disk. If your disk is a DataFrame, then SuperMac's help phone will probably be able to walk you through this - they did for me and I was VERY appreciative. -- -Brian Diehm (SDA - Standard Disclaimers Apply) Tektronix, Inc. briand@tekig4.TEK.COM or {decvax,cae780,uw-beaver}!tektronix!tekig4!briand
