Message-ID: <7357@dartvax.UUCP> Date: Sun, 11-Oct-87 18:18:23 EDT Article-I.D.: dartvax.7357 Posted: Sun Oct 11 18:18:23 1987 Date-Received: Tue, 13-Oct-87 02:11:30 EDT Organization: Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH Lines: 24 Keywords: Mac II,HD40, Hard Disk I just received my Mac II complete with HD40. I immediately formatted it and uploaded about 25 megs worth of stuff. So far so good. But now, for some reason, it won't let me start up from the hard disk anymore. If I boot the system tools disk it recognizes the hard disk. I can then transfer to the hard disk system by either running a program on the disk or command-option-opening its finder. All of that works fine, but every time I restart without a system disk in the floppy drive I get a system error. I have tried replacing the system and finder with new ones, but it doesn't help. When I verify the hard disk, no errors are found. I'd like to solve this problem without reformatting if possible... I'd really appreciate any help - I seem to remember seeing a similar question posted by someone else about a month ago, but I didn't read it closely. If this seems to be a common problem then I will post whatever solution I get to the net. Thanks in advance... ============================================================================== thomas@dartvax * thomas%u2%dartmouth%csnet-relay.arpa | Thomas Summerall '88 | H.B. 3445 "And all that the Lorax left here in this mess, | Dartmouth College Was a small pile of rocks, with one word: UNLESS" | Hanover, NH 03755 -Dr. Seuss '25 | ==============================================================================
