It wasn't that way when I worked in the eastern regional sales office
for Ridge (Lexington Mass).  My site was called "rclex" and was connected
to harvard (mail + full news feed), lincoln labs (mail), and a number of
other local sites.  Corporate was connected to riacs and hplabs for their
primary news and mail feeds, I believe.  The hplabs connection was assumed
to be the lower quality link of the two.

There has undoubedtly been personnel turnover in the last couple of years,
many of whom were involved in the networking effort at Ridge.
