Lines: 36 Keywords: BBS System Model IV TRSDOS 6.2 Hello everyone! We have a package which we're considering posting here... and want to 'test the waters' a little first. The reason for this is sheer size -- we're talking about 6 standard TRS-80 disks here, in uncompressed format. The package is a full remote access, host & BBS system for the Model IV in native mode. It's fast, full-featured, and used to be a commercial product. It would be posted as shareware -- take it if you want, we'd appreciate a contribution if you find it useful, by we all know how that goes :-) The system consists of installed interrupt drivers, a full BBS package, a full terminal emulator with ANSI emulation, remote MAIL, a networking scheme, scheduled batch jobs, and one whole heck of a lot more. Our question is -- how many people would be interested in this? I need some idea if Usenet is a reasonable place to stuff such a package -- this will be one *huge* set of postings, quite possibly one of the largest ever (I count 24 parts if my math is right). Especially relavent is the pros & cons of the various encoding methods. Uuencode is mandatory, but what compression/encoding/arc format is used inside the uuencoded file?? Please mail all comments -- indications of interest, lack thereof, flames, suggestions on packaging, etc. I will keep the net informed as to where we're going with this.
