The subject line says it all (except, of course, that public domain
software would be preferred).  I have directed followups to me rather
than the group, because I suspect this is the kind of question that
comes up a lot and bores the old timers.  If there are interesting
answers I'll post a summary.  (And yes, I'm aware that indexing is
a black art that can't be completely automated -- I just want to automate
the dumb index cards, that's all.)
