The documentation for shl (shell layers) refers to the stty character "swtch", which is used to wake up shl in order to switch layers. Naturally, no such character is documented in the man entries for stty, tty, or termio. I wish to write a program which operates in a similar manner to shl, but my only reference to the character is in its definition in termio.h, which places it in the last position of c_cc in struct termio. But what happens when the character is typed? Does the kernel care? If the kernel doesn't look at this character, why is stored in termio? Neil Erskine ||!][b -- Neil S.
