If you're thinking of the large ones used in portable computers and the like, my impression (I have no personal experience with this) is that the cheapest way to get one is to buy a portable computer at a closeout sale and rip it apart. The companies that make them basically don't want to talk to you unless you're ordering in quantity 100000.
