Even a manufacturer will send sample quantities, if you interest them. And it isn't unheard of that someone says they are interested in 100's and 1000's of something when they only really want to get their hands on sample to see if they're really interested in buying more than one. There is more than one manufacturer that makes large and small display that have all the drive logic on a PC board that comes with the display.
