On certain occaisions, the blood turns to 'liquid' as if a miracle had occured. No one opens the bottle to see if it really IS a liquid. On the comment of volume difference due to water loss, it has been my experience that soda bottles of blood clot very quickly, then dry out, leaving the same basic volume of material with lots of tiny air pockets.
