I found several commands, namely e, ex, mail, and grep, with duplicated entries in the standard PATH directories. The first three I can understand the intention. But grep exists in both /bin and /usr/ucb with source files in the corresponding areas. The two source files look similar but not identical. My questions area: Why two "grep"? And is there any difference in their functions or speeds? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Albert Cheng acheng@a.cs.uiuc.edu (ARPAnet or CSNET) uiucdcs!acheng(USENET) Dept. of Computer Science, Univ. of Illinois-Urbana, Rm. 240, 1304 W.
