We evaluated protocol analyzers; one was programmed in Forth, though I forget which. It does seem that companies downplay the use of Forth (or is it FORTH?). I use a similar language as the interpreter of an interactive graphics program. It is also a toy in itself on my UNIX PC at home. Yes, it is a hacker's environment, but one can make it robust.
