Just before shutting down, I set the Sysgen SETTIME parameter to 1 (in the CURRENT parameters, of course). This parameter causes the time to be prompted for during system startup. After the system is up, you have to reset the SETTIME parameter to zero again, but other than that, it is a relatively painless, clean way to reset the system time.
