Since there seems to be more sites without ftp than with ftp to these various machines, is there a gateway type machine out there which handles uucp-based requests for ftp-ped files? That is, I would like to be able to send an email message stating that I wanted to ftp, the site to which the ftp was to go, login, passwrd (if appropriate) and teh file to retrieve. I doubt that this is available though. If not, then is there some OTHER way that the hunders, if not thousands of folks without ftp can get to the files on simtel, mimsy, etc.? -- Larry W.
