DOS keeps track of the devices installed and then the programs make use of that info to perform whatever task is necessary. The format program accesses this table to determine how to format the drive. In order to bypass this table, you can do one of the two following steps: device=driver.sys /d:1 /f:2 this will add another drive (d if you have a hard drive) that is now a 720 K device. drivparm=/d:1/f:2 this will make the b drive a 720K device. The second example will only work under DOS 3.2
