Just a comment: I download files from a VAX running C-kermit under Unix, to an MSDOS machine running Procomm. I find that the two kermits, in binary-file- type mode, transfer files at half the rate of text files (makes sense, I guess). Since a uuencoded file is only 33% larger than the binary form, and I can download it as a text file, things go faster for me if I download uuencoded files and uudecode them locally.
