Amstrad yesterday (28 October 1987) announced their PPC640 
portable IBM compatible.

It is interesting, if ugly, and starts with two models with
prices of 399 and 499 pounds sterling which will no doubt
convert into similar numbers of US dollars.

The basic model includes a V21,V22,V23 modem Supertwist LCD display,
single 3.5" drive, parallel and serial ports, and 640K RAM.
The second model adds a second drive (at least).

US launch will be at Comdex. UK launch at the Which show in Jan 88.

Dare I note that this was written on a PC1512 (albeit as a terminal
to a Sun!)?
