For those of you who haven't heard, Tandy is planning an agressive
marketing strategy for the CoCo 3 this coming Holiday season:
 
1. The CoCo 2 is being completely discontinued.  It will be available
   only on a "where-is-as-is" basis for around $50.
 
2. The CoCo 3 will be priced at $129 (with 128k).
 
3. CM-8 prices will drop at least $50, maybe more.
 
4. TV ads and a large section in the catalogs.
 
5. There may be discounts on bundled disk-based systems.
 
The Color Computer 3 should be a good seller this X-mas.  Also, while
Tandy officially denies it, there is a batch of new GIME chips coming
over from Korea now, packed between the CoCo 3's.  This, according to
fairly reliable sources, fixes a number of minor bugs, and should help
the computer run cooler.
 
According to Tandy, they have merely increased the yield on GIME chips.
In any case, it will not be available as a store item - only through
National Parts as a repair item, and may cost quite a bit. (Could be
close to $40.)
 
Also in the news - a Hard Disk Controller for the CoCo 3 that will let
it run an IBM XT hard drive.  (Save $$ on hard disks!)  The software
formats the drive as an OS-9 disk, but lets you save DISK BASIC files
to disks which are set up as files under parts of the OS-9 disk.
