I would like to be able to transfer MS Word format documents from
my PC at home to the Mac's at the office (and vice versa).

Low (ideally zero) cost solutions (like an PD Xmodem or Kermit package
for the Mac) are desirable.  If modems are the problem, I can probably
hook up a direct serial line between a PC here in the office to the Mac
(if it helps).
