We too have a 40 meg Apple SCSI tape.

In a few words - it stinks.

It's too slow, too noisy ( for being that slow ), and the
software is bad. It's not worthless, it does work, etc., but it
sure as heck isn't worth the great wait and $$$ that is cost us.

Top that off with the price of the tapes $$$.
