Even though the discussion has now gone off on a (very fascinating) tangent, I'd like to thank everyone who sent me mail or posted an article in response. The scene I am planning to write will now be much more fleshed out ... and I'll have enough material left over for a whole 'nother book. With the help of the Boston police department, of course. (Now, if I could only find Spenser to have a nice long talk with *him* ... ) My apologies to those of you who wrote long responses and got (apparently) no thanks from me ... I tried to respond to every letter, but many of my letters of thanks were bounced multiple times. Technology is great -- when it works. So, thanks again, folks. I'll post a message here when the book is published (don't hold your breath ... this could take years), and you can all see your names in print. -- Yet another missive from The writer in the closet {harvard | think}!ima!haddock!laura "Think of it as evolution in action." -- Oath of Fealty
