But the action you took is definitely gone too far. If you don't like someone's view it does not justify your action to shut him down. It seems to me that you were suggesting that UW CS dept. should sensorship the post made by their student just because it was not agree with yours. If you find somebody's posting in alt.drugs ,or any other group which is not accepted by the most of the society, rather offensive does it give you the right to collect his/her posting and send it to his/her boss and say "Hey, stop this guy posting stuff like that" ???
