So you won't have to flip back to the article right now, I'll just summarize. He said that all this net.bitching is not accomplishing anything and that it would make sense to take action and establish some form of enforced net.etiquette. He makes a moving call: "Actions, not words!" I move that we start talking about it immediately. However, alt.flame is not really the place to start this. Perhaps news.admin, news.sysadmin, or misc.legal would be acceptable places for it. It might be a good idea to start a talk.netnews or netnews.d newsgroup to discuss the establishment of a formalized system of netiquette. After a set period of discussion, we could nominate a committee who would eventually produce a joint resolution on the subject. This would be given to the Powers that Be, who would eventually accept it. We could start by suggesting the creation of a talk.netnews group (somewhat similar to news.admin, except wholly devoted to netiquette discussion and discussions which would take up a lot of time on news.admin). If this is impossible, an alt.netnews newsgroup might be a better idea. The way to start is to post an article to news.groups on the subject. I've come up with this suggestion for a phase of the formalized netiquette development process. I'll let someone else decide to start the creation of the newsgroup, or the beginning of discussion in misc.legal and news.admin. I welcome email.
