Haven't you ever heard one scream when it is murdered? Just because our ears are tuned to the frequencies used by animals doesn't mean we shouldn't be sensitive to the turnip's feelings! Hell, plants apparently feel pain when bacteria are killed near them (source? The Secret Life of Plants). Plants give you all your oxygen, provided they are alive. The world would quickly become a greenhouse without them. Clearly we should be shooting lower on the food chain. Swear off animals and plants - eat yeast and plankton. Maybe those tube worms at the Galapagos vents are onto something tasty. Call any vegetable and the chances are good that the vegetable will respond to you.
