If I was the type to be crushed by a flame from Ms. Dorothy, do you think I would have intentionally antagonized her? Hardly. Why should I give the slightest care to what someone says on the net in a flame? I admit, I do look upon flames as an amusing thing to pass the time (EVEN when they're directed at me). That's why alt.flame is at the top of MY .newsrc.... If I was worried about getting accepted by everyone on the net, then I guess I'd join the backpatting society, wouldn't I. Just like you did. However, I feel comfortable enough with myself, so that I can take whatever flames appear on the net for what they're worth (and whatever I personally pay for them). I guess the only bad thing about what I do is the fact that I might lose my account on the computer because of it. Imagine that, I'd have to be fired if I couldn't get on the computer. Then, on my next job application, in the section that says "Reasons for termination", I'd put "I flamed Dorothy." Get real! Not all people care about being accepted by net.society such as you do. Conforming to other's expectations is not very high on my list of priorities. Zippyesque quote: "Am I a rebel yet? Huh??? Am I???" Note to Dorothy: You can take this as a challenge or an invitation to flame me and that's fine. All I want to see is an example of your handiwork since my workplace doesn't archive soc.* or things like that. Shit, is that too much work. If you want, you don't even have to flame ME, but flame someone! As you can probably tell, I don't get shaken up by flames like some people do. There's no one rule for success, but there's one sure rule for failure: Try to please everyone. -MikeP
