I, frankly, have been disgusted at the quality of the garbage that passes for "flames" these days. My contribution is but a mere wisp of the flamage that was, and even compares poorly with what I was producing at my peak. I sure have gotten out of shape. I've lost touch with the power of the dark side. >this flamage gets my vote for the alt.flame >hall of flame. A far, far greater testimony to the mediocrity of alt.flame than to the quality of my doings. >Oooh baby. It's the pot calling the kettle black. Hey Mike, is it ok for >YOU to type potentially litigous things at Eric, but NOT ok for him to type >them at MES? Fan them flames. As far as I've been able to tell, name-calling is not a litigous offense. Reagan called the Senate Judiciary Committee a "lynch-mob", and he's still in office. However, presenting false and defaming information as true and authoritative constitutes libel, slander, practicing without a license, or what have you. Your mileage may vary. >>Not only that, but research has shown that the "talking cure" can actually >>exacerbate the offensiveness of a chronic asshole. I've been diagnosed as an acute asshole with infrequently recurring episodes. Nothing seems to help, short of staying away from other assholes. >And I give you, Mikey a 50 yard penalty and tell you once again to practice >what you preach. For someone who shows so much sympathy to MES, who has >said himself many times in his postings that he has psychological problems, All the time I have spent with Mark has convinced me that he has no psychological problems at all. Any problems he may have are the perfectly reasonable and expected reaction of a normal human being to the types of treatment to which he has been exposed. There's some old apocryphal Native American saying about walking a thousand miles in someone's moccasins. I strongly recommend trying it sometime. Mark is definitely not psychotic, and probably less neurotic than a majority of middle-class suburban types I have known. He has a much better grasp of his own emotions than any psychologist I have ever met, and for someone to accuse him of being permanently disabled by a neurological disorder is just going too far. >to then turn around with one of the most wonderfully sun-spot intensive >flamage I have seen in YEARS, seems a bit "off" to me. As for not seeing quality flameage in years, I blame MTV and flouride in the water. There was a day when men were men, women were women, and flames were flames. People stood up for their rights and beliefs and melted the modems of any who opposed them. Now all we get is whining and sniveling and sneaky little stab'em-in-the-back yellow-bellied two-faced false civility. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael Robinson USENET: ucbvax!ernie!robinson ARPA: robinson@ernie.berkeley.edu
