Apparently it is not sufficient to just create a group and send an
announcement message on it for people to be aware of it.  

Thus, retroactively, I would like to mention that alt.hypertext has
been created.  Some discussion of the problems of maintaining a
collection of all posted messages to allow for a hypertexting of the
entire Usenet has gone on.  If you now try to find those messages on
your current machine, you will probably run into the problem being
addressed :-)
