Thompson's introductory message. I am interested in the use of SUP11 to provide selection for single copy plasmids in yeast strains. This would be useful to me in some of the experiments which I am planning (introduction of chimeric genes into yeast strains and comparison of their activity with the progenitor genes). Specifically, I would like a reference and/or explanation as to just why this gene cannot exist in multicopy. I found only a single genbank SUP11 entry (a tRNA locus?). Is this the Sup11 to which you refer? How does it work? Where can I get it? Help anyone. K. Jones -------
