I'm running Microport on an 8MHz clone. Can the |Microport or Xenix drivers support uucp at 9600 baud? Early versions of Microport will "double panic" if you run high speed connections. How frequently this happens is machine dependent. John Sully at mport tells me that this is fixed in the the latest version, and I will report further when we get it. If you are running any version shipped before Nov 1987 you will probably have problems. I run Xenix 2.1.3 on an AT, and can average about 7800 bps over two concurrent 9600 baud uucp connections (to two machines, of course). I can get about 9300 bps out one port and in the other using zmodem. Your milage may vary... based on experience with two machines here and numerous net postings in other groups. -- bill davidsen (wedu@ge-crd.arpa) {uunet | philabs | seismo}!steinmetz!crdos1!davidsen "Stupidity, like virtue, is its own reward"s: 2h
