Summary: Modem is sick


My Prometheus Promodem 1200 is not working correctly.  It stopped tone dialing
and all call proccessing tone detection.  I've narrowed the problem down
(I think) to one of IC's. The marking on the chip are:  AMI 8423G5 S25212.
I suspect its some type of one chip modem or tone decoder/generator chip.
If you know where I can pick one of these things up for a reasonable cost
please drop me some email.  Prometheus wants $75.00 to fix the thing!!!
