There is a U. S. Robotics 2400 baud modem that is sold at a steep discount in a number of magazines - I got mine for $169 mailorder and have seen it advertised recently for $159. It seems to work quite well - the only 2400 baud modem I have any trouble connecting with is another USR (!) on the West Coast. It doesn't come with a lot of documentation or MNP, but seems like a good deal.
