I was quite amazed to find that rmail is the only kind of mail that is talked about. Taste in applications that process mail tends to vary more widely than other kinds of taste. It would seem to me that The Right Thing would involve having some sort of hole for which a send-mail strategy and a read-mail strategy would be the pegs.
