I am running smail2.5 under System V on the NCR tower XP (without
sendmail). I have found a problem with xmail as the front end. 
I have a number of aliases and a mailing list defined under smail which 
should be applied against locally originated mail as well as incoming 
messages. This works as expected using /bin/mail (which is now the 
svbinmail from the smail distribution) however when I try to mail using 
an alias xmail rejects it as an unknown user before passing to smail 
for alias processing. 

Short of redefining all of the aliases in the system master .mailrc
is there any workaround?
