The standard minix hard disk driver, xt_wini.c works partially on my Seagate 225 hard disk, with XEBEC controller. However, when writing to the hard disk anthing over a few kilobytes long, I get short 'whirrrr', and the system hangs. All reads seem to work fine. Would anyone have a modified driver to work with the Segate/Xebec combination? I believe part of the program comes from the ECC (error correction)--on all hard disk utilities which perform an ECC test, my hard disk fails. It has done this from the start, so I assume my HD doesn't posess this circuitry. Things work perfectlyh with MS-DOS. As well, what is involved in getting a dial-in line working with MINIX? Has someone came up with getty-type software and Hayes modem drivers to allow this? Is there somewhere I can obtain a summary of the changes (bug fixes, etc.) which have been posted in this group? How is the latest version of MINIX different from version 1.1? again, excuse me, as I realise most of these question must have come up before... dalegass@dalcsug.uucp
